 sightful presentation by Ana M. Carvalho from the University of Arizona!\n
 \nCarvalho will provide a sociolinguistic contextualization of bilingual c
 ommunities in northern Uruguay and share her experience in developing the 
 documentary Voices from the Margins\, featuring first-person narratives fr
 om Uruguayan-Portuguese people about their language experiences. Additiona
 lly\, she will argue that these documentaries can play a pivotal role in r
 eshaping perceptions of minoritized dialects by illustrating how speakers 
 embrace\, resist and challenge the dominant linguistic ideologies that sus
 tain the marginalization of minority languages.\n\n\nPresented by Brazilia
 n and Portuguese studies\; sponsored by the Program in Latin American and
