Greene will read from a new essay about his career as a writer of both fiction and nonfiction, reflecting upon the ways these genres overlap and how his own nonfiction and fiction are linked. His remarks will discuss his motivations for writing several monographs, Porgy’s Ghost: The Life and Works of Dorothy Heyward and Her Contribution to an American Classic, The Real Rainbow Row: Explorations in Charleston’s LGBTQ+ History, and the novels Why We Never Danced the Charleston and The German Officer’s Boy. There will be a Q&A for attendees to ask Greene about these works or others in his oeuvre. Reception will follow.
