The College's Committee on Commemoration and Landscapes (CCL) Phase II of the Septima Clark Auditorium project will showcase student contests (in poetry, visual arts, and community activism), introducing a new generation of students to Septima Clark and placing a spotlight on her civil rights work and community activism. In addition to showcasing the winning entries, Phase II will include new interpretive installations dedicated to Septima Clark’s beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., featuring the Charleston graduate chapter, Gamma Xi Omega, where Clark was president from 1952-54, and the College of Charleston’s undergraduate chapter, Iota Omicron. There will also be a panel dedicated to student activism at the CofC over the years.
