 on about the global presence of Caribbean music and culture at the 2020 an
 d 2026 Super Bowl halftime shows.\n\n \n\nBy tracing the diverse genres in
  these performances (reggaeton\, salsa\, Champeta\, mapale\, hip-hop fusio
 n\, etc.) and their cultural expression\, this talk will explore how the a
 rtists Bad Bunny\, Shakira and J.Lo used music\, intricate staging and sym
 bols of cultural nationalism in order to promote cultural unity in the fac
 e of rising xenophobia toward Latin American and Caribbean communities in 
 the United States.\n\n \n\nThe event is part of the Faculty Lecture Series
  presented by the College's Friends of the Library and the Honors College.
 \n\n \n\nThe talk is free and open to all\, no registration required. Free
